A week ago we celebrated the release of TO:Crossfire together on IRC and afterwards on the servers, resulting in very long nights for all of us - now it's time to have a closer look at the release and talk about how it's going to continue.
The feedback about our release that we have received so far is overwhelming. We have received so many queries and emails, seen so many threads and posts on our forums that it wasn't always possible to talk to you directly - we can't even reply as fast as you post :)
What we have received so far tells us that we have found a solid base to continue development on. In public play the game is more fun than we actually thought of and some people are already addicted to it. But even though the response was overwhelming positive - or especially because of that - we are carefully listening to the negative feedback and/or complaints we have read and heard so far. It didn't take long for you to find minor and major bugs - needless to say we left those in intentionally, so you have something to complain about ;) - and we are already working on TO:Crossfire Public Beta 1.1 that will fix the major map- and codebugs.
We've got a whole bunch of work left (besides fixing Public Beta 1 towards a 1.x version we dont want to stop improving/developing our maps according to your feedback or create new animations and improved karma-physics as well as the one or other new weapon for Public Beta 2) but we found some time to run a few statistics for you to play with :)
Since mid of October 2004 (when we switched to our current developing system) we had a total of 12.007 file changes in 2.660 commits. 34 different people were working on the system. The average commits to the system were 35 per week (!), that makes an average of 5 new commits every day (not 5 files that were changes, new content 5 times a day!). The most average commits per week and therefore king-of-commitment (I had to bring this one :D) is MadOnion with 9 commits. He is also responsible for 675 commits ever, which is one quarter of all work done in the past 75 weeks! Overall, since the secret developing on UT2003 started, we had a total of 2.008 code-compiles.
While these are rather dry statistics, you are probably more interested in some 'real' stuff.

The party on IRC is starting, the crowd is getting ready and we can't wait any longer and will join the available servers any second! The day we've waited for so long has come and you finally get the chance to judge what we think represents a unique, fast and fun game. No more talk now, let's game!
The password for the Encrypted Client is:

Due to the fixed Serverpackage we've released 2 days ago you'll need the following Hotfix for your Client to work properly - it's MultiOS again and should not be hard to handle :)
With the help of the amazing serveradmins out there we were able to verify another UTk24 bug. The good news is that it only appears on 64bit systems running a 64bit linux. The fix also exists :) You can grab it here.
The weekend is ours, let's get the party started! :) And don't forget to tell us what you think about TO:Crossfire Public Beta 1!

With an extraordinary good release of the Encrypted Client and more than 80 servers online already (reminder for the serveradmins: update to the fixed Serverpackage!) we expect a full scale assault on the servers for friday. It's going to be big!
To make your waiting more pleasant, we've put together a teaser of scenes from Public Beta 1 and like to share them with you. Get your hands on the video here:
