Well, we haven't posted any news for a long time - BUT WE ARE STILL HERE.

We are still making good progress and step by step we get more closely to release. In the following we provide you with an overview about the things we have done or tested in the last weeks:

In case of mapping we are working at really fine stuff. You perhaps could already filter some maps out of the hints in the last news.

With Blister, we tried to add a new way to the upper bomb spot, but we threw the idea away, as it would seriously damage the map balancing. The map is now decorated nicely and currently tested heavily.

The new Rapid Waters version is still in the building progress, and the mapper works a lot on it.
The other 3 maps are already done from the building point of view and are now in the optimization and decoration process.
In case of all maps we seriously care for the frames and try to match the TO:C style.
For example, we built a new nice looking glazed way in one of the maps, that you can not enter. Access denied.

The development of the core game also did not stop. We already have female sound added to test if it works and have recorded the final sounds, too. The problem here is that some sounds need to be recorded a second time.
We also have some trouble with the corresponding models.
They look quite nice but unfortunately they're not perfect yet. Head, legs and arms still need a little bit of work. One of our modelers is working on them but any additional help would be appreciated.

Last week there was a test of a visible Laser pointer for the Desert Eagle. Unfortunately there were too many bugs (e.g. frame drops) that forced us to remove this feature and to put it aside.

The Stress test team is currently testing all maps for places where the player shadows cause problems and for other bugs.

Furthermore the new buy menu has undergone some big changes in the last days. Paxy did some great work here and from the functional side the menu is 99% done. At this time we work on the Design and the positioning which is not easy because it has to work with any possible display resolution.

For the already finished VIP scenario we added a green smoke grenade to the VIPs inventory. An interesting and tactical feature.

Thats it from our side. We can not give you a date for 1.9 yet, because we want to deliver a perfect patch and the maps and tests will take some time. We will try to keep you up to date.

P.S. There will be a nice lottery before the release!

News from the TO:C Front
Friday, 09 May 2008 22:54
Some news about the TO:C development progress:

At first: We are still there and work busily on the the next patch. Here is what we have done till now:

The escape and VIP scenarios are almost done. During the last beta test we found one bug in each, which were immediately fixed. So we hope that it will work perfectly in the next beta test.

You now get all the money back when selling the weapon in the preround. We will test the resulting balancing changes soon. You also can see now a symbol in the score board if somebody records a demo. We will perhaps change the icon but everything else is ready. You will also see a list of the players on the server when starting a demo.

We also tested the new maps because of frame problems. Till now it appears that there are only problems on one map, but this appears to be fixed easily. The map with the biggest progress is Blister with ca. 85%. We will test the balance of that map soon and fix balancing problems afterwards if they appear. All the other maps look quite nice, too. We almost finished changes with the HUD and the buy menu. (only the buy menu needs some small bug fixes)

We also added female test sounds to the female skins, but we still need to work on both. We really need a person who can help us with the models!

All in all the Patch is almost done but we have to wait for the mappers, who are working on bug fixes for known and new maps.

And we still need to do some more beta tests. So stay tuned!
